Strolling through Balboa Park with Grace was like taking a mini vacation to Europe! We had so much fun meandering through the plazas and buildings. We even grabbed a cup of coffee while we enjoyed the park. Grace, I hope the real thing is in your future soon. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it fully!
Lily and I hit the beach with a determination to capture all the fun and celebration that finishing her senior year deserved!
Lily, you're the Class of 2023! Congrats! You did it! it's no small thing to make it through your high school career with a sense of achievement and resiliency, especially while navigating a pandemic! I'm so proud of you for growing physically, spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually!
“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”
Luke 2:52 NIV
Where do you feel rejuvenated? Energized? At peace? Most like yourself?
Great questions to ask when deciding on a location for your senior pictures!
San Diego offers a lot of nature to choose from. If you like our ubiquitous fields and hills, then maybe the terrain around Lake Hodges is your spot. Meandering trails. Breezes sifting through eucalyptus leaves. Grassy textures swaying. The crunch of the dirt and gravel underfoot. All the earthy browns and greens that are so typical of our San Diego hills. Let your relaxed and natural side shine.
If you were a season, what would you be?
I often ask students that question as we are trying to decide on a location for their senior photo shoot.
As it turned out, Bri LOVES the fall! And I'm not just talking about warm hued leaves, but ALL the fall vibes! Cozy blankets. Warm cups of rich coffee. Plaid fabric, leather coats, denim jackets, boots. Plus, her birthday is in the fall.
She just feels most like herself wrapped up in ALL things autumn, so we packed up all the fall things and headed to Old Poway Park in early December to capture these memories.
Ahhh, Coronado: small town charm, vacation vibes, iconic hotel, movie star history, military pride, wide open beaches, island views. I can't tell you how much I love this location!
Kristen chose Coronado, California as the location for her college senior portrait session in the spring. The location has a lot of meaning for Kristen since she went to high school in Coronado and she graduated from nearby Point Loma Nazarene University. I can hardly believe all the local stories she has to tell!
Spring Fields in San Diego!
San Diego has a nice spring green for only a few months of the year, and the yellow mustard flowers only pop their color for a few weeks! We caught them at just the right time for this session. The dandelions even surprised us and we snuck them in for a few shots!
If you're looking for these fresh and happy spring colors, then you'll want to plan your session in the spring!
The smell of the eucalyptus and sage as we stroll past. The crunch of the earth underfoot. The buckwheat and flowers that quietly reach for the heavens. Wide open sky breathing space and freedom. Rolling hills urging a long walk. There's beauty and peace and adventure for whomever will have it.
I've got exclusive photo access to this beautiful private ranch in east Poway, and I absolutely love introducing my clients to it! If you love the earthy tones and textures of our native San Diego hills, then I know you'll go wild over the wonderful sense of nature here!
